When The Garden first made their impact on the SoCal DIY scene in 2011, nobody was quite sure what to do with them. The band is composed of Wyatt and Fletcher Shears — twins, models, musicians, and provocateurs hailing from Orange County — and their music defies all expectations and genre barriers. The duo injects new life into familiar sounds, meshing punk, art rock, trap beats, and electronic music.
Since their first official release in 2013, The Life and Times of a Paperclip, the stylish pair has worked alongside such noteworthy musicians as Tyler the Creator and Mac Demarco ~for whom they recently opened at the Greek Theater~. They’ve also garnered the attention of fashion industry heavyweights, working with luminary Hedi Silmane of Saint Laurent and appearing in campaigns by i-D, Urban Outfitters, and IntoTheGloss. Known for their theatrical performances that draw the audience in, from first song all the way through the moment they walk off stage, The Garden is a live experience you definitely won’t want to miss!
Opening for The Garden are LA surf punks SadGirl, who infuse old school crackle into their Americana inflected rock. Fresh off a tour behind their excellent SadGirl Vol. 3 EP, they'll take their DIY ethos and fuzzed out sound to the Upper Sproul stage!
